It’s a typical workday, where some are frantically trying to meet deadlines, while others work casually on assignments, and a few wait for their next task. But one thing is common among them – they lack direction and control over their career progression. With time, they begin to develop a distaste for their job and find faults in almost everything. The uncertainty of their future adds to their fear, and this fear gives birth to a host of other problems. This creates a vicious cycle, and with each passing day, the situation deteriorates further.

Wait, there is another set of people who are fully engaged, take pride in their contribution, know where they are heading and more importantly, they are in charge of their career progression.
Have you ever wondered which group you belong to?
If you find yourself just going with the flow and want to change it, here are some quick pointers that can help you break the cycle and take control of your career –
Dream, Plan, Act, Reflect.
- Dream
- Dream freely, don’t limit yourself.
- Identify & acknowledge your career aspirations.
- Plan
- Make a broad plan that helps you achieve your dream.
- Put up a schedule to achieve the first milestone.
- Create the daily rituals that help you accomplish the first milestone. It can be as small as brushing teeth.
- Act
- Act on your plan.
- If required, start small, but start.
- Reflect
- Track your progress at a regular interval.
- Tailor the plan if required.
This will give you clarity & confidence about what you want to achieve. The uncertainty will fade, fear will subsidize, and eventually, you will bring positive attitude energy to work.
If you don’t plan for yourself, someone else will, whether you like it or not!

Nicely summed up the action plan to be happy and achieve your dreams or goals.
When dreams get fulfilled, we get charged up with fresh batteries of energy to see new dreams. Dreams makes us enthusiastic and full of life.
One should like the job which he is doing or do the job which he likes….I think second one is the better choice.😊
Nice article bro.👍

Nice blog.I think this will help a lot of freshers also who are clueless about carrer path after joining IT.
With your few words, one can plan for their dreams. Easily explained the situation and directed to act next.
We are waiting for your next words.
Very well articulated. I liked the idea of being a leader without designation. Every individual is a leader when he/she gains control by their planning and feedback iterations with an excellent execution. Of course there’ll be external forces and some failures along the way but a good leader would learn from them and refine the plan.
Great start, will keep an eye for more. Keep it up!
I agree Ankur, leadership is a role instead of a designation. Knowingly or unknowingly each one of us assumes this role in different aspects of life.
Rightly said.. Start with small DPAR and build confidence..
Nice and very true ,now I become subscriber 🙂
Very well written!!
Very nice and helpful article. Looking forward to next one 🙂
Well articulated
Nicely written article clearly reflecting the importance of regular self introspection to take control of your career.
Nicely put into words, waiting for the next writeup, but before dream I think there should be a vision.
I think dream is fancy wish, desire with no limitation, vision comes next when you put purpose, plan and structure around your dreams.
Nicely presented real thoughts
